FNL Cheer is a fun way to get kids used to cheering in front of others. The main coaches for FNL Cheer are Nida Padgett and Annette Morris, there are 2 coaches per team. The assistant coaches are 9th-12th graders. The teams are for kids the ages of 6-12 years old. There is a Jr. Elite team that has girls the ages of 9-13 coached by the main coaches Nida and Annette. Their uniforms include an FNL Shell, Red FNL Cheer skirt with briefs, pom poms, Bow, and their shoes with low white socks. You may know cheerleaders as people who wear a lot of makeup for performances but FNL Cheerleaders are not allowed to wear any make-up. Their practice days are Tuesday from 5-6 and game days are Friday 5:35-6:30. Tuesday practices are at the Good Shepherd Gym, and on Fridays, their games are located at McAuliffe Middle School. On Fridays FNL Cheerleaders perform with cheers and dances for the boys and girls that play flag football. They have a half time show where they perform one of their many dances, after their halftime show they will continue their cheers and dance on the side lines. When they cheer for the football team the team feels like they will win. One song that they dance to is “Cheerleader”. It is a very fun song to dance to and the team loves it. One cheer that is the main one is “Here we go FNL”. When performing, the coaches stamp the girls hands that are doing a good job and whoever has the most stamps after the game is over they get a free snack. The kids love to perform for their friends and family and hopefully will continue to follow their joys.
