Ultimate March Madness Celebration

A couple weeks ago, our ASB hosted a March Madness basketball competition. It took place on Monday, April 3rd on the basketball courts during both lunches.

March Madness is a college basketball tournament where different college teams around the US compete against each other in brackets to see who will win. This year, the winner goes to the UConn Huskies, a basketball team from the University of Connecticut.

Originally, this event was going to be held on Friday, March 31, but because of the unfortunate weather, it got rained out. Thankfully, it was postponed to Monday, April 3rd.

Not only was there a large number of students who participated, but there were also many of our teachers, such as Mr. Bay, Swihart, and Ms. Schwarz who played during sixth-grade lunch, and Mr. Thomson, Mrs. LeTourneau, Mrs. Stewart, Mrs. Phillips, and Mr. Happoldt during seventh and eighth-grade lunch.

To sum up the rules of the game, the teachers and students competed against each other to see who could score the most baskets within five minutes.

In the end, during sixth-grade lunch, the two teams tied, and during seventh and eighth-grade lunch, the students beat the teachers by around 10 points. This win for the seventh and eighth graders resulted in major excitement.

In a quick interview with Mrs. LeTourneau, a teacher who participated during seventh and eighth grade lunch, she stated, “I think it was super fun, we all were full of energy, and I also really enjoyed having the kids there.”

Everybody enjoyed this fun teacher vs student basketball event, and ASB is hoping to do it again next year during March Madness season.
