Ms. Sheldon, a 6th-grade science teacher known for her enthusiastic energy and classroom high-fives, is enjoying her first year teaching at McAuliffe. She previously attended California State University, Chico, where she majored in Natural Sciences with a focus on Science Education. Before teaching at McAuliffe, Ms. Sheldon taught 7th-grade science in Laguna and student taught 8th-grade science in Chico. She first decided she wanted to become a middle school science teacher when she started 7th grade, her first year of middle school, where her inspiring and engaging middle school teacher made her fall in love with science.

Ms. Sheldon has already made a positive impact at McAuliffe so far through her passion for teaching and her connection with students. Just like she was inspired by her middle school teacher, Ms. Sheldon inspires many students here at McAuliffe to pursue their passions. She says she loves teaching at McAuliffe because of the community, especially the funny and kind students and supportive coworkers who have allowed her to be her true self. She feels she has learned so much from her coworkers about teaching, and is very grateful for the room LosAl has given her to grow as a teacher. Ms. Sheldon advises her students to “stay authentic no matter what and also be kind.” Ultimately, Ms. Sheldon’s passion for teaching and dedication to her students make her a wonderful part of McAuliffe.
