Ever notice some helpful students in neon green t-shirts around campus during special events? If so, they may be members of Link Crew. Link Crew is a new elective at McAuliffe that was added this year. One of our beloved teachers, Mrs. LeTourneau, a 7th grade English teacher proudly leads the elective. The elective is open to grades 7/8, and focuses on promoting college days by making events and posters, hosting bi-annual skate nights, and celebrating days like Unity Day to prevent bullying and to spread kindness. Link Crew also helps with making sure the 6th graders feel welcomed to McAuliffe at the start of the year, hosting lunch-time activities, to help them feel included, and connected to other students. I asked a few students in Link Crew on how Link Crew makes a difference on our school campus, and here’s what they had to say.
“Link Crew is important because it helps build community by welcoming new students. They make a difference by helping to create belonging within the students.” Annabelle Erice (8th grade).
“Link Crew Leadership builds community by welcoming new students, creating belonging, and inspiring leadership in everyone.” Ellington Wade (8th grade).
“Link Crew is important because we connect the school together with our sixth graders. Some may think it’s not important, but it helps our school community and our amazing ASB.” Amelia Lee (8th grade).
In conclusion, Link Crew is a vital part of our school culture and community.
