The soccer season of 2024-2025 has started! Come out at lunch to socialize with friends while being athletic! You can compete against your friends or classmates during lunch to win an intramural shirt!
When asked, “What was the highlight for your team when participating in soccer intramurals?” McAuliffe 7th-grade student Annabelle Erice said, “The highlight of my team was when my team made it to the semifinals.”
In McAuliffe, soccer intramurals are games involving two teams of five players who try to move the ball into the other team’s goal without using their arms or hands. In the first few days, students practice playing against each other. Later, they enter the playoffs, where winners keep playing and losers are eliminated. The last team standing is the champion of McAuliffe’s 2024-25 soccer intramurals!
The winners will be awarded red intramural shirts and a picture of their team in the yearbook. These shirts appeal to students because they can wear them as PE clothes and show off to friends. Intramural shirts are mainly the reason why students attend sports intramurals.
When asked, “What were your team’s challenges when playing?” McAuliffe 8th-grade student Isabella Sarabia said, “Playing against a boys team who were stronger and taller.”
Winner, winner chicken dinner! Congratulations to the teams that won this year! Sadly, our soccer intramural is ending, but do not worry—more intramural sports are coming up! If an intramural shirt sounds appealing to you, make sure to participate!
