Q & A with Mrs. Martin

Kash Kupfer, Reporter

This is an interview with Mrs. Martin, McAuliffe’s sixth grade science and math teacher. This Q&A discusses Mrs. Martin’s teaching experience and interests, as well as her love of pickelball.

Q: What is your favorite part about McAuliffe?

A: I love the students and the staff.

Q: Have you ever taught at a different school besides McAuliffe?

A: I have taught at Oak, Hopkinson, Lee, and I did my student teaching at McGaugh and at LAE.

Q: Have you ever taught a different grade level other than 6th grade?

A : I have taught 4th grade and 5th grade and one unique thing that I did is I would keep the same kids for 4th and 5th grade.

Q :What was your favorite year at McAuliffe?

A: I like all the years for different reasons.

Q: How long have you been teaching at McAuliffe?

A: Probably 15 or 16 years.

Q: How long have you been teaching at different schools?

A: I have been in the district for 34 years.

Q: What’s your favorite school you have taught at?

A: I like McAuliffe because when I came to McAuliffe the principal let me pick what I wanted to teach and my first choice was 6th grade math and science.

Q: What is your favorite school besides McAuliffe?

A: I liked Lee because when we reopened we only had one 4th grade class and one 5th grade class, so it was really small.

Q: If you can change one thing about McAuliffe what would it be?

A: I’m not sure because everything is great at McAuliffe. Wait, I know, I would like the school to have more permanent pickleball nets, but I do not think PE would like that.

Q: What got you into pickleball?

A: My friend told me it was a fun sport that was a lot more fun than tennis and then she invited me to play. It turned into a social thing and I met a lot of friends that I play with every weekend.

Thank you Mrs. Martin for letting us know a little more about you.
