Pokémon’s Additional Adventure

Jacob Sincock, Staff Writer

On January 9, 2020, a Pokémon Direct was aired. It told everyone that they would be a Pokémon Mystery Dungeon remake and a Pokémon Sword and Shield DLC. This DLC will include Pokémon that were cut from the game, The Isle of Armor, the Crown Tundra, new Galarian legendaries, and a new storyline. The Isle of Armor is coming out in June 2020 and the Crown Tundra will be released in fall 2020.

The Isle of Armor takes place in a flat, tropical area with lots of water. It’s located East of Galar, while the Crown Tundra takes place in a rocky, cold area with lots of snow. It’s located South of Galar.

They showed what seemed to be Galarian Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. New G-Max forms like Venasaur, InteleonRilaboom, Blastoise, and Cinderace. And new legendaries that seem to be a dragon Regi and electric Regi (Regi is a type of legendary Pokémon).

Both of the new areas include an original storyline, such as the Isle of Armor has a dojo and the clothing there looks Eastern. The Crown Tundra follows a special tree and the clothing there looks warm and underground. There is supposed to be a special cave system where legendaries appear as well.

There are also new legendaries for each of the areas, such as Kubfu, Urshifu (Rapid Strike and Single Strike), and Calyrex. Kubfu appears to be a small fighting bear and its evolutions look to be masters of some type of fighting. Single Strike is a fighting-dark type, while Rapid Strike is a fighting-water type.

“I think it’s cool because they never release DLCs,” says Hero Perdomo, a seventh-grader at McAuliffe Middle School.

These new areas in Sword and Shield go for $30 and can be pre-ordered in the Nintendo eShop.
