Mrs. Kimi Redden is one of McAullife’s sixth-grade math and science teachers. She is a great teacher and also a great person. You might not know a lot about her, maybe even nothing at all, so here are some things to get to know her.
Mrs. Redden was born on March 24, 1971, in Harbor City, CA. She has 4 siblings, two sisters and two step-brothers. She went to 186th Street School for kindergarten, and then went to Coast Christian School first to fifth grade. She went through the Fountain Valley School District from sixth-twelfth grade and graduated high school in 1989.
After graduating high school, Mrs. Redden went to University of Irvine and got a bachelor’s degree in Social Ecology, with a specialization in Psychological Science. She stayed there for another year to get her teaching credential. Mrs. Redden then went to Alliant International University and got her master’s degree in Educational Administration.
Mrs.Redden always wanted to become a teacher. The only time she questioned it was when one of her professors asked if she wanted to continue on with them in graduate school as a TA. She first taught at LAE as a 5th grade teacher for 5 years. She then went to McAullife and has been teaching sixth-grade math and science for 25 years.
When she is not teaching, Mrs Redden likes to travel, read, play with her cats, watch her niece’s and nephew’s sporting events, and go to UCLA games.
Some fun facts about Mrs. Redden is that she swam competitively in elementary and middle school. She also played basketball in high school. Mrs. Redden also worked at Hamilton Animal Hospital when she was in high school and college.
Mrs.Redden has made a big impact on her students. Lukas Crichton said, “Mrs.Redden is an incredible role model, and will help her students do great things.”. With that, Evelyn Nam said, “Mrs.Redden is the hardest working teacher you can find on campus”. Mrs. Redden feels touched that her past students still remember her and think highly of her.
Mrs. Redden’s advice to her students is, “Be kind to others, always put forth your best effort, and strive to always do what is right, even when no one is looking.”
Overall, Mrs. Redden says, “McAuliffe is like a family, we all love and support each other. My best friends are teachers here, and I am blessed to work with them everyday.”
