Teacher Appreciation Week is finally here! This is a time where students at school can give their teachers praise for their dedication towards their classes’ education.
Teacher Appreciation Week became a national holiday in 1984, being celebrated on the first full week of May. This week is highly important as it is a week where students can acknowledge the hard work that teachers put in their lessons. Teachers play an important role when it comes to a student’s development academically and socially. For example, “[teachers] are responsible for imparting knowledge and skills to the next generation. They equip students with the essential tools they need to become productive members of society.” (LinkedIn)
To add on, educators also are seen to be more cheerful when they have received encouraging words from students. According to the website, “[teachers] who receive regular recognition and praise are more likely to be productive, engaged, and satisfied with their work, which ultimately benefits their students and schools.” (EvaluateTeaching) This positive impact on a student’s teacher will be both favorable to the student and teacher when it comes to the respect of one another.
So, with Teacher Appreciation Week continuing for 5 days, remember to thank your teachers by writing cards to them, giving gifts, or thanking them in person!
