Mr. Dean Arnold is a long time teacher here at Mcauliffe Middle School, who is known for his fun teaching styles and his awesome Hawaiian shirts. This is his last year here, for he is retiring. Before he goes, here are some things you might not have known about him.
He attended Elementary and Middle school at Gisler K-8 school in Fountain Valley, which is where he grew up. He attended Fountain Valley High School and graduated class of 1981.
He realized he wanted to be a teacher during his High School years, but also considered other positions. But ultimately decided he wanted to do something where he felt like he was contributing to the future. He thought the job was rewarding because he could work with kids, who are the future.
He taught for 32 years, his first class was in 1991-1992 at Hopkinson Elementary, when he taught 5th grade. Fun fact, he taught Mr Courteramarch’s best friend and his wife during the 22 years he taught at Hopkinson.
Hopkinson was the only other school he taught at before he came to Mcauliffe 10 years ago.
He has always taught Core and History, other than when he was an “everything teacher” at Hopkinson.
He loves his Hawaiian Shirts, he find them comfortable and the patterns are fun and vibrant
He owns over 500 shirts, therefore he doesn’t even need to repeat any shirts all year!
Most of his shirts have special, secret patterns and shapes. For example, the christmas shirts he has all have the year they were made incorporated into the shirt. The rest are secret, you got to ask him for more.
One thing Mr. Arnold wanted to say to you guys was to “Well, do your best. Always put in your effort because the harder your work, you create good habits and you must be all you can be.”
You will be missed Mr. Arnold, and we wish you the best of luck in this new chapter of your life.
