Blue Exorcist Anime Show

Heather Phillips, Staff Writer

Life is pretty complicated when you’re a teen, but even worse when you’re the son of Satan.

Blue Exorcist is an action anime series from the manga of the same name, which took its inspiration from a Brothers Grimm fairy tale. The show is about Rin Okumara and his twin brother Yukio, raised by Father Fujimoto, the Priest of a local monastery. Due to the nature of the plot, there are several biblical themes and references spread throughout the series.

“The place of Blue Exorcist is set very early on in the anime, with a major turn of events causing Rin’s inherited demonic abilities to come alive and lead him on the path of vengeance against the one man who destroyed everything he held dear, his own father, Satan,” states attackongeek.com

According to Themoviedb.org, “The ExWire of True Cross Academy are beset with shock and fear in the aftermath of discovering that one of their own classmates, Rin Okumura, is the son of Satan. But for the moment, they have more pressing concerns than that of Rin’s parentage: the left eye of the Impure King, a powerful demon, has been stolen from the academy’s Deep Keep.”

Mikayla King, an eighth grader at Mcauliffe Middle School, recommends the show because it is, in her words, a very interesting action show. “I would recommend the show to other people who I know share the same interests because I personally really liked it and it was also very funny.” Blue Exorcist also has a surprising plot twist and has similar concepts to other shows. “Dark fantasy has always piqued my interest, making this show similar to other favorites such as Black Butler. The characters are original and interesting, making sure the watcher gets hooked in, and can’t stop watching until they’re finished.”

At the end of the day,  the show Blue Exorcist has both cons and pros which makes it a unique anime.
